Neighborhood Freebies Support

When the app opens for the first time, a popup will occur asking you to allow notifications. Select allow if you want notifications to be sent to you for new local posts or messages from other users. Then enter your first name, last initial, and your home address. We use your address to show you freebies within about 1,000 feet of your home.

Only your first name and last initial are shown in the app when communicating with neighbors. Your address is stored securely, is not shared with other users, and is used only to find freebies near you. Please see our privacy policy for details.

Tap "New Post," add a title, description, and photos. Other neighbors within about 1,000 feet of your home will see your post.

Only neighbors within approximately 1,000 feet (a couple of blocks) of your home address can see your posts.

Find an item you want and tap "Request". The item's poster will receive a message and will message you if they choose to give you their item. Note that you can also message the poster to find out details about the item. To do this, tap the "Ask" button.

Find a post you're interested in, then tap "Ask". For existing conversations or incoming messages from other user's about your posts, tap the mail icon to navigate to the messages page.

Make sure you've enabled notifications in your phone's settings for Neighborhood Freebies. Go to Settings > Notifications and ensure the app is enabled.

It's possible no one in your neighborhood has posted yet. Encourage friends and neighbors to join! You can also create posts yourself.
